Anglesey

Community initiatives

Anglesey Aluminium Metal Limited aims to expand and strengthen relationships with the Anglesey community through regular consultation and engagement. AAM sets out to build enduring relationships with neighbours that are characterised by mutual respect, active partnership and long term commitment. Some key partnerships and community programmes are outlined below.

Donations and Sponsorship Committee

The Board of Anglesey Aluminium Metal Limited agrees the financial allocation for the Donations and Sponsorship Committee in the annual Board Meeting. The Donations Committee Members administrate the fund allocated by the Board of Directors. Preference is given to local organisations rather than individuals and donations are given to support a specific aim or function. In addition to applications received on an 'ad hoc' basis, it is proposed that 50 per cent of the donations budget will be managed more actively by the Committee targeting projects that will build the community profile of AAM.

Applications for assistance should be addressed to Margaret Tracey, Community Relations Officer, Anglesey Aluminium Metal Limited, Penrhos Works, PO Box 4, Holyhead Anglesey LL65 2UJ.

Red Squirrel project

Anglesey Aluminium Metal Limited and the Friends of Anglesey Red Squirrels team hold a number of educational visits with local schools as part of the Red Squirrel introduction programme. The visits are referred to as 'Red Squirrel Talk and Walk', during which the Friends of Anglesey Red Squirrels give an onsite talk about the Red Squirrels to the school children then take the participants for a walk near the the woodland area to spot some squirrels.

Penrhos Coastal Park

Anglesey Aluminium Metal Limited is the custodian of a 200 acre coastal park that boasts breathtaking scenic views and provides a natural shelter for many varieties of flora and fauna. Each year about 100,000 people visit the park. In early 2006 AAM appointed Kehoe Countryside Limited (a countryside management company) to manage the AAM owned Penrhos Coastal Park and ensure it remains a beautiful and safe place for both the local community and visitors to enjoy. The Coastal Park provides a great opportunity for AAM to contribute to the local community and protect the environment.
