Quality system accreditation
Rio Tinto Aluminium smelters, refineries and the mine all use process control techniques to ensure that all products meet stringent metallurgical, chemical and dimensional standards. All products are inspected for surface defects, dimensional tolerances and internal cracks. Rio Tinto Aluminium laboratories at each smelter, which are accredited by relevant national testing authorities in both Australia and New Zealand, issue chemical analysis certificates for each product casting. Rio Tinto Aluminium engages continuous improvement techniques in relation to casting process, metal handling and packaging methods to ensure that all products arrive at the customer plants in excellent condition.
